WILDERNESS TRAIL, BAY OF FIRES TOUR
Departing Launceston we travel to the pretty towns of Scottsdale and Legerwood, where we take a short stop to admire the stunning tree carvings, dedicated to the WW1 Soldiers of Dorset. We travel on to Ringarooma and head off road through the Mount Victoria Reserve, surrounded by stunning views over the valley, small waterfalls cascading along the roadway and pockets of lush rainforest.
We arrive at Ralph Falls and take a stroll over the boardwalk to Cashs George. This walk takes you through native vegetation, across streams where moss and lichen adorn the trees and ground, and across wetlands and grasslands where Wombats can often be spotted.
Eventually arriving at Cashs Gorge, you will be met by a stunning view out over the valley. We continue our trek towards the falls, through enchanting pockets of lush rainforest, streams, moss, Lichen, fungi and wildlife, not to mention the stunning view from the top of the falls. Walking on just a bit further, you’ll find Norms Lookout where you finally see Ralph Falls in all his glory, etched into the craggy cliffs, plunging 100 metres into a fern filled chasam.
We head back to the car and continue our journey onto St Columba Falls, travelling through timber reserves and crossing the Inlet Bridge. Once at St Columba Falls, it’s a short 30 min return walk to view the hidden beauty of the falls.
We then continue our travels to Pyengana, where we stop for a short break to have lunch, and sample some of the best local chesses around. Lunch includes the Tasmanian Gourmet Platter, Coffee, Tea or cold non-alcoholic drink. There is also an array of local produce for purchase.
After lunch we head for St Helens, a pretty coastal town. There are many beautiful sites to see as we travel past Binalong Bay, where you can see the famous red lichen covered rocks adorning turquoise crystal clear water, before heading to the pristine sandy white beaches at The Gardens and Taylors Beach, part of the internationally acclaimed Bay of Fires.
